WHAT IS PRIVATE PILATES?

If you want a personally targeted experience, Private Pilates sessions are the way to go. By working with you on an individual basis your teacher will create tailored sessions to help you achieve your goals as quickly as possible. You will learn you how to perform all of the exercises correctly and safely with good technique.

The difference between performing an exercise correctly (and therefore effectively) or incorrectly and risking injury may be a very small movement. The way this typically manifests is through the over-recruitment of arms or neck or thigh muscles, without activating and holding the core stabilisers. Private Pilates is about learning how to activate the ‘right’ muscles to ensure correct technique and form – not only while you practise Pilates, but in your everyday life.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PRIVATE PILATES?

The most obvious benefit of Private Pilates starts from having the teacher’s undivided attention, so that choices of apparatus, movements, and how-tos are all tailored to your individual needs and goals. A private session is the most effective way to learn, practise and perfect the Pilates movements and sequences that are ideal for your physicality.  Group classes are only more economical than Private Pilates once you have learned the correct techniques that ensure you get the full benefits of Pilates. Without this prior knowledge and training, the benefits from your practise in group classes may be compromised and progression of results diminished.

WHY PRIVATE PILATES AT MOSS PILATES?

Private Pilates sessions give you the chance to work one on one with a highly trained Polestar qualified Pilates teacher. We meet you where you are, in mind and body. Committing to you, your goals and creating a bespoke training program for lasting results. Private sessions offer you dedicated time, expertise and personal space. Private Pilates will help you to become much more aware of your body and assist in your rehabilitation to healthy movement, support pre-and post-natal journeys, and overall, guide you with valuable, effective training.

In private sessions, you can take advantage of all the different Pilates equipment, such as the Reformers, Fitball, Pilates Arc and other small apparatus available at the studio. If you are new to Pilates, your first private sessions may comprise or include a postural assessment to help us customise your program to your specific needs.

HOW DO I BOOK AND GET STARTED?

To get you started we recommend beginning with 2 x Private Sessions for £99. If you are unsure where to begin you can come and meet owner Julia Moss for complimentary 20-minute postural assessment. This will help us work out which of our specialised practitioners will be best suited to your needs.

WHO IS PRIVATE PILATES IDEAL FOR?

Private sessions are ideal for anyone with a pre-existing condition such as back, neck or general joint pain. They are also extremely well suited for athletes & dancers who wish to improve performance and gain a competitive edge. Private Pilates is ideal if:

  • You are recovering from an injury and have been advised to do Pilates
  • You have not done Pilates before
  • You have Pilates experience but would like to get more from your training
  • You would like a few sessions to help improve your technique
  • You have not used Pilates equipment before and would like to build confidence before taking group classes
  • You require a hard and challenging workout to supplement your current training

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO STUDIO CLUB PILATES CLASSES?

The best thing to wear to Pilates sessions is what you makes you feel comfortable and allows you to move freely. Most of our clients wear leggings or shorts with a t-shirt. One thing you won’t need is shoes. Pilates classes happen in socks or bare feet, whichever you prefer. We have male and female change rooms, and water fountains on every floor.
