The most obvious benefit of Private Pilates starts from having the teacher’s undivided attention, so that choices of apparatus, movements, and how-tos are all tailored to your individual needs and goals. A private session is the most effective way to learn, practise and perfect the Pilates movements and sequences that are ideal for your physicality.
Working with your teacher on an individual basis will help you to achieve your goals as quickly as possible and will teach you how to perform all of the exercises correctly and with good technique. Private sessions are available at Kings Cross and Shoreditch studios.
Available at Shoreditch. The Reformer is a Pilates machine that enables you to adjust the level of resistance while you exercise. Once you’re in motion on the Reformer, it’s easy to see and feel why this is the most popular piece in the entire Pilates repertoire. Reformer Pilates allows you to fine-tune the resistance to suit your body perfectly, meaning the work you do is always calibrated to your capacity and ability. Choose group or private sessions.
Available at Shoreditch. Studio Club classes sit between private Pilates sessions and group classes. With a maximum of four people in any class, your teacher is always on hand to provide guidance and support. Your first session will be a private one-to-one to assess your needs and tailor-make a program to suit you. Available at Kings Cross. Mat Pilates provide a mind-body experience that will dramatically change the way your body looks and feels. Build strength without bulk to create a toned body. Exercises can also involve basic Pilates equipment such as a Pilates ring, resistance band, or weighted balls. Mat Pilates classes are suitable for everyone free of injury. Regardless of your age or condition, we adapt the exercises to suit you.

Difference between Mat & Reformer Pilates?
How often should I do Pilates?
We are often asked about the difference between mat and reformer Pilates. The reformer has become one of the world’s most popular workouts because it demands more from the body, by way of resistance and coordination, than classic fitness or mat-based routines alone. Mat Pilates is popular for improving core-strength. It achieves this with movements that primarily roll, twist and curl to target your torso, from your hips to your shoulders. The reformer offers all the core-building benefits you get on the mat and more. The force from the pulley and spring system means more resistance than just your body weight, and it’s harder to balance. This additional challenge to your stability and range of motion helps you to achieve results faster.
How often you attend is up to you. It all boils down to the frequency and quality of your other activities, and how much rest you get. If you are happy with how you feel in your body and Pilates supplements your fitness routine, you might find one class a week is enough. How often to do Pilates also comes down to, let’s be honest, commitment. If you feel sore across your neck and shoulders for example, or you want to see specific results in a particular time frame, then commit to two or three classes per week for at least eight weeks. The answer to this question is so personal, if you’re unsure the best course of action is to ask. We are here to make suggestions based on your level of experience and personal requirements.
How do I get started with Pilates?
How do I get started at Moss Pilates?
If you’re not moving much at the moment, no problem. Pilates is a great way to start moving your body again, and Moss is a non-intimidating, welcoming environment to get started with Pilates. Same applies if you have a regular fitness or wellness routine that includes things like walking, swimming, cycling, running and/or weight training. Add Pilates to your routine to realign your body, reduce joint pain, and improve performance across all your other activities. Training your body for optimal movement is the foundation for moving and feeling well.
Depending on your level of body awareness, conditioning, or previous experience, you might choose to go straight in to group classes, or start with Private Pilates. Private sessions are a great way to assess and resolve patterns that may be contributing to poor posture, neck, shoulder, back or knee pain. We offer a number of ways to help you ease into your Pilates practise and achieve your best self. Choose from group reformer classes, private Pilates, studio Pilates and/or holistic rehabilitation services like massage and osteopathy to balance your plan for treatment, exercise and overall wellbeing.
Do I need to be fit for Moss Pilates classes?
We have Pilates classes to suit just about everyone. If you are new to reformer Pilates, we recommend our Reformer Starter Package followed by the Fundamentals class. It’s designed for beginners and anyone looking for a slower, more restorative and less challenging class. It’s also ideal if you are returning to Pilates after an injury, however we don’t recommend taking part in any group class if you are injured or in chronic pain.
